PMS Nutritional Information

Health is an issue today more than ever before. Americans are especially becoming more concerned about what they consume, and if they’re not, they should be. So much of our available food is processed. This is not to our advantage. We want foods that are organic and free of GMOs, antibiotics, and hormones. These additives certainly can take a toll on our bodies over time. The good news is that more and more healthy food is becoming available. The bad news is that it can cost you an arm and a leg. Regardless of your eating habits, you can count on crucial nutritional information being provided. If it isn’t, you can always take advantage of the Internet.

Having access to the nutritional information concerning our daily foods has become important to us in recent times. So many people are becoming afflicted with cancer and other health related issues that we’re fed up with the food industry. We want to know what’s in it. If you’ve ever been grocery shopping, then you’ve probably noticed the nutritional information on the side of the box or container that the item comes in. This gives you the essential rundown of what you’re eating. You’d be surprised at what’s in things. I recall moseying through the supermarket with my daughter a few weeks back, and she wanted a treat.

More PMS and Acne

Last week I wrote about the connection between PMS and Acne. About.com came out with an article about the same time saying the same thing essentially. It’s nice to know when others back up what you’re saying :-)

Basically they said this:

Treating Acne Caused by Hormonal Changes | Treatments for Hormonally Influenced Acne

For some female patients, treatment-resistant acne is caused by excessive production of hormones called androgens. Clues that help the doctor diagnose hormonally influenced acne are adult-onset acne, hirsutism, premenstrual acne flares, irregular menstrual cycles, and elevated blood levels of certain androgens.

PMS and Acne

One of the things I hate the worst about PMS is the acne. It is a physical sign to everybody that “here I go… I’m off to PMS land.” My chin and cheeks break out. I hate it! What kind of acne treatments are available for women going through PMS.

During PMS, if you suffer from blemishes and pimples, then you know what an embarrassing, or even traumatizing, experience it can be to interact with other people. Your face is the first thing that they notice, and no matter how hard you try, you can’t completely cover up every zit and red bump you have. You want to clear up your face now, but none of the over-the-counter soaps, cleansers, and creams seem to do any good. In fact, a lot of them contain harsh chemicals that have actually made your skin worse during PMS, and make your face glow red. I’d rather just have the PMS, thank you. What you need is an acne treatment that really works.

Menstrual cycle is an indicator of overall health

PMS may be a HUGE pain, but if there is a bright side (other than being pregnant again ) it means that you are generally healthy. Let’s look at this a bit further.

Leading women’s health advocates met today at a scientific forum titled, “The Menstrual Cycle is a Vital Sign,” held at the New York Academy of Sciences. Co-sponsored by Rachel’s Well, Inc. and the Society for Menstrual Cycle Research, the discussion was designed to raise awareness about the role of menstruation as a unique indicator of a woman’s overall physical health.

At the center of the discussion was the importance of identifying health issues linked to the menstrual cycle, as well as clarifying any misconceptions. “The menstrual cycle is a window into the general health and well-being of women, and not just a reproductive event,” said Paula Hillard, M.D., professor of obstetrics & gynecology and pediatrics at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. “It can indicate the status of bone health, heart disease, and ovarian failure, as well as long-term fertility. Therefore, if a woman is not having her period, it is the first sign that something else could be going on.”
